
Subaru dominated Kelley Blue Book's newly announced Brand Image Awards, sweeping the major categories in the non-luxury field, including Best Overall Brand.
The Japanese automaker also won awards for Most Trusted Brand and Best Performance Brand among non-luxury brands.
The awards recognize automakers' "outstanding achievements in creating and maintaining brand attributes that capture the attention and enthusiasm of the new-vehicle buying public."
"We've seen an interesting shift in consumer perception of Subaru over the last few years," said Hwei-Lin Oetken, vice president of strategic insights for Kelley Blue Book. "They won their first-ever Brand Image Awards last year, and now this year they swept the major categories of Best Overall Brand, Most Trusted Brand and Best Performance Brand. Consumers undoubtedly are taking serious notice of Subaru."
Honda had dominated the the Best Overall Brand from 2013 to 2015, while Subaru's other two awards this year represent repeat wins from 2015.
Lexus also showed some dominance on the luxury side of the awards, winning Best Overall Luxury Brand and Most Trusted Luxury Brand.
Ford was named Best Overall Truck Brand for the third year in a row.
